Okay, I see the difference - that's some food for thoughts on my end too:)

I used to love competitions I could easily win high school chess tournaments, for example. Or simply grades at high school or uni - being on top of the list was just so /pleasing/. But I've also always been suffering from low self-esteem dragging me down and eventually I started liking this sort of thing less and less. Now I don't think I could bring myself to consciously participate in any sort of competition - my fear of failure has been getting stonger, not weaker. Bah.

As to challenges... lol. I could be dragged into most bizarre of things in the heat of the moment - I'm very /impulsive/ - and then dearly regret it later.
